2016 Sunset Review
Texas Sunset Commission
The Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists is currently to undergoing Sunset Review by the Texas Sunset Commission. The Sunset process is a review of an agency to determine their necessity. An important piece to the Sunset review process is the opportunity to make recommendations to improve TSBEP’s purpose; this is where we come in!
TASP’s Sunset Review Task Force has finalized proposals on seven initiatives for consideration by the Sunset Commission (to download individual copies, click on each heading below. Click here for a combined copy of all initiatives from the Sunset Task Force):
- Rename licensure from "Licensed Specialist in School Psychology (LSSP)" to “School Psychologist”
- Proportionate Representation of LSSPs on TSBEP
- Allow LSSPs to practice in private schools
- Align State Law and Regulation for Practice to Reflect National Standards for the Practice of School Psychology
- LSSPs must have a conferred degree in School Psychology or a Re-Specialization Certification from a School Psychology Program
- Maintain the Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists
