Position Description: QUALIFICATIONS: • Minimum of a masters degree with licensure as a Licensed Specialist in School Psychology (LSSP) by the Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists or be eligible for LSSP licensure • Thorough knowledge of evaluation procedures and instruments used in public schools. • Exceptional interpersonal skills and problem-solving skills. • Exceptional mastery of professional communication, teaming, presentation, and writing skills. • Ability to effectively focus on student, parent, and state expectations as measured by RISD goals. • Capable of providing both a powerful influence as a leader and contributing as a team player. Experience • 3 years of experience as an LSSP • 1 year of leadership and/or supervision experience • 2 years of eStar or eSped experience preferred CRITERIA FOR SELECTION WILL INCLUDE THE ABILITY TO: • Demonstrate leadership skills in a dynamic organizational system, through supervision and/or mentoring of LSSPs • Demonstrate cultural competency by applying knowledge of cultural variables to all services delivered to students, staff, and families • Demonstrate advance skills in differentiating between characteristics of emotional disturbance, autism spectrum disorder, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (all types), and other related conditions • Generate special education and section 504 student data using eStar or eSped program • Plan and deliver trainings related to social emotional learning and special education processes • Function as a support person to assist schools in the implementation of the Special Education processes outlined in the Guide to Special Education Services as well as the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). • Select, administer, and interpret individual evaluations to address eligibility for special education services. • Provide consultation services to students as well as develop individual and/or classroom intervention plans that address students’ behavioral, emotional, and/or social functioning using evidenced based strategies. • Produce accurate and complete evaluation report, records, and special education paperwork. • Assist the ARD Committee in determining eligibility and need for services in special education. • Work cooperatively with colleagues, parents, and members of the educational community. • Foster productive relationships with both parents and members of the educational community. • Maintain prompt and regular attendance. Mental & Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent district wide and occasional statewide travel; occasional prolonged and irregular hours. Work with frequent interruptions. Frequent standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, pushing and pulling. Prolonged use of computer and repetitive hand motions. Occasional lifting up to 50 pounds.
